History of Catholic theology

The history of Catholic theology, or the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church, began with 1st-century Judaism and the teachings of Jesus, who claimed to be the Jewish Messiah. These roots further developed in the period of Early Christianity, with the Church Fathers and Ecumenical councils outlining concepts such as the trinity.
