History of Macedonia (ancient kingdom)

The kingdom of Macedonia was an ancient state on the periphery of Archaic Greece and Classical Greece, roughly corresponding to what is now the central and western parts of Greek Macedonia, before expanding under Philip II and becoming the dominant power of ancient Greece. Macedon was founded in the mid-7th century BC during the period of Archaic Greece and was first led by the Argead dynasty from Aigai in Lower Macedonia.
