Humberto Delgado
Humberto da Silva Delgado (Portuguese pronunciation: [ũˈbɛɾtu dɛɫˈɡadu]; 15 May 1906 – 13 February 1965) was a Portuguese General of the Air Force, diplomat and politician. He is known for being a prominent opponent of the dictatorial Estado Novo regime who contested the 1958 presidential election with great popular support, despite the widespread electoral fraud that ensured his defeat.
