The September 11 attacks were a series of terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group Al-Qaeda against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, in which 2,977 people and 19 hijackers were killed. Jokes based on the events have been made in print and other media since soon after the attacks.
