Hydrastine

Hydrastine is an isoquinoline alkaloid which was discovered in 1851 by Alfred P. Durand. Nitric acid induced hydrolysis of hydrastine yields hydrastinine, which was patented by Bayer as a haemostatic drug in the early 1900s.
