Karakoram fault system

The Karakoram fault is an oblique-slip fault system in the Himalaya region. The slip along the fault accommodates radial expansion of the Himalayan arc, northward indentation of the Pamir Mountains, and eastward lateral extrusion of the Tibetan Plateau.
