Khmelnytsky Uprising
The Khmelnytsky Uprising, also known as the Cossack–Polish War, Khmelnytsky insurrection, Cossack Revolution, or, in Ukraine, as the National Liberation War, was a successful Cossack rebellion with elements of a religious war that took place between 1648 and 1657 in the eastern territories of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. Originating in Dnieper Ukraine, the uprising resulted in a Cossack victory and led to the creation of the Cossack Hetmanate.
