Kongo religion (Kikongo: Bukongo or Bakongo) encompasses the traditional spiritual beliefs of the Bakongo people. Due to the highly centralized position of the Kingdom of Kongo, its leaders were able to influence much of the traditional religious practices across the Congo Basin.
