Kunya (Arabic)

A kunya (Arabic: كُنيَة) is an Arabic teknonym, an epithet mentioning a first born son, or sometimes daughter. Abū or Umm precedes the son's or daughter's name in the genitive case, for example Abu Bakr or Umm Kulthum.
