The following railroads merged to form CSX Transportation. The Seaboard System Railroad merged with Chessie System which consisted of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and Western Maryland Railroad to form CSX Transportation July 1, 1986.
