List of gardener-botanist explorers of the Enlightenment

The Age of Discovery, also known as the Age of Exploration, was a period in history starting in the early 16th century and continuing into the early 19th century during which Europeans and the United States engaged in intensive exploration of the world, establishing direct contacts with Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania and mapping the planet. Scientific matters at this time were of little interest as exploration was mostly commercially and politically motivated.
