The prime minister of Hungary (Hungarian: Magyarország miniszterelnöke) is the head of government of Hungary and the leader of the Hungarian cabinet. == Background == The office of prime minister was formally established during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, under the April Laws sanctioned by King Ferdinand V. The first prime minister was Lajos Batthyány, who took office on 17 March 1848, marking the beginning of constitutional and parliamentary government in Hungary.
