Maroteaux–Lamy syndrome

Maroteaux–Lamy syndrome, or mucopolysaccharidosis type VI (MPS-VI), is an inherited disease caused by a deficiency in the enzyme arylsulfatase B (ARSB). ARSB is responsible for the breakdown of large sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs, also known as mucopolysaccharides).
