He practiced surgical oncology and gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, was Mark Ravitch Chair in Gastrointestinal Surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and was the chief of Islet Transplant Surgery at Johns Hopkins.
