Nine-tailed fox

The nine-tailed fox (九尾狐) is a mythical fox entity originating from the mythology of China. The first recorded appearance of the nine-tailed fox can be found in the ancient Chinese text, Shanhaijing (Classic of Mountains and Seas), which was compiled sometime between the Warring States period and the early Han dynasty (circa 475 BCE – 141 BCE).
