Orange Order in Australia

The Orange Order in Australia (officially the Loyal Orange Institution of Australia) is the Australian branch of the international Protestant fraternal organization founded in September 1795 in County Armagh, Ireland, following the Battle of the Diamond. Introduced to the Australian colonies in the early nineteenth century by Protestant immigrants from Ireland, Scotland, and England, the Order was established to promote Orange heritage, maintain loyalty to the British Crown, support the principles of the Reformed Christian faith, and engage in charitable works.
