Palestinian Jews or Jewish Palestinians (Hebrew: יְהוּדִים פָלַסְטִינִים; Arabic: اليهود الفلسطينيون) were the Jews who inhabited Palestine (alternatively the Land of Israel) prior to the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel on 14 May 1948. Beginning in the 19th century, the collective Jewish communities of Ottoman Syria and then of Mandatory Palestine were commonly referred to as the Yishuv (ישוב, lit. 'settlement').
