Parking brake

In a motor vehicle, the parking brake, also known as an emergency brake (e-brake) or handbrake, is a braking mechanism often used to keep the vehicle securely motionless while parked or to attempt to stop the vehicle in an emergency. Parking brakes often consist of a pulling mechanism attached to a cable which is connected to two wheel brakes.
