2025 Vietnamese administrative reforms

As part of broader institutional reforms in 2024 and 2025, the Communist Party and Government of Vietnam announced the Plan to Arrange and Merge Administrative Units (Vietnamese: Phương án sắp xếp và sáp nhập đơn vị hành chính, lit. 'Project for [re]organising and merging administrative units'). As part of the re-organisation, district-level units were to be eliminated and the number of local government units at the provincial and communal levels were to be reduced by around 50%.
