Population and Immigration Authority

The Population and Immigration Authority (Hebrew: רשות האוכלוסין וההגירה; PIBA), is an Israeli government agency established on July 23, 2008 which is responsible for population registry and immigration topics and border control. In addition, the Population and Immigration Authority closely cooperates with the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the issue of immigration, personal status, and migration, with some of the Population Authority's powers abroad being delegated to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who in turn, through secondary legislation, delegates some of his powers to Israeli missions abroad.
