Potestaat of Friesland

Potestaat (West Frisian pronunciation: [poːtəsˈtaːt]; pl. potestaten) was the title of a supposed governor of medieval Friesland. According to the legendary Karelsprivilege, a 14th-century forgery, Charlemagne had first granted the title of potestaat to Magnus Forteman.
