Qal'a

Qalʿa (Arabic: ‏قلعة‎; construct state: qalʿat), also called kalāta (کلاته) in Classical Persian (see § Etymology), means 'fortress', 'fortification', 'castle', or simply 'fortified place'. Qal'as can range from forts like Rumkale to the mud-brick compound common throughout West Asia.
