The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, commonly known as the Right to Education Act (RTE), is a legislation enacted by the Parliament of India on 4 August 2009. It provides for free and compulsory education to all children aged 6 to 14 years in India, in accordance with Article 21A of the Constitution of India.
