Syria's railway system has been paralyzed since mid-2012, with much of its infrastructure destroyed during the civil war, resulting in a complete suspension of rail services from July 2012 until August 2020. In August 2025, test operations resumed on the railway line between Aleppo and Hama, marking the first train movements on this route since its paralysis.
