Recognition of same-sex unions in Nigeria

Nigeria does not recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions. Homosexuality among men is punishable by up to 14 years' imprisonment in southern parts of Nigeria, while it is punishable by death in northern parts of the country under Sharia law.
