Royal Lao Police
The Royal Lao Police (Lao: ກຣົມຕຳຮວຈລາວ; French: Police Royale Laotiènne – PRL), was the official national police force of the Kingdom of Laos from 1950 to 1975, operating closely with the Royal Lao Armed Forces (FAR) during the Laotian Civil War between 1960 and 1975. == History == The PRL traced back its origins to the immediate aftermath of World War II, when the Laotian Gendarmerie was established by the French Union authorities in May 1946 under the designation Lao National Guard (French: Garde Nationale Laotiènne – GNL), to replace the local sections of the mainly Vietnamese Indochinese Guard (French: Garde Indochinoise), first established in 1895 as the 'Indigenous Guard' (French: Garde Indigène).
