The Sahel region (; from Arabic ساحل sāḥil ([ˈsaːħil]); coast, shore), or Sahelian acacia savanna, is a biogeographical region in Africa. It is the transition zone between the more humid Sudanian savannas to its south and the drier Sahara to the north.
