The Serapeum of Alexandria was an ancient Greek temple built by Ptolemy III Euergetes (reigned 246–222 BC) and dedicated to the Greco-Egyptian syncretic god Serapis, made the protector of Alexandria, Egypt. The site has been heavily plundered by Christians in the late 4th century.
