Soumitra Chatterjee (also spelt as Chattopadhyay; Bengali: [ˈʃou̯mitːɾo ˈt͡ʃɔʈːopadʱːae̯] ; 19 January 1935 – 15 November 2020) was an Indian actor, director and writer who worked in Bengali cinema and theatre. He is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema.
