Soviet passport

The Soviet passport (Russian: Паспорт СССР) was an identity document and passport issued pursuant to the laws of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) for citizens of the USSR. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Soviet passports continued to be issued until 2000 in the Russian Federation, and in other post-Soviet states, until they were replaced with national passports gradually by 2001. All Soviet passports remain valid as an identity document in the Russian Federation to this date.
