Sports in the New York metropolitan area

The New York metropolitan area is one of only two in the United States with more than one team in each of the "Big Four" major professional sports leagues, along with two in Major League Soccer. New York metropolitan area sports teams have been crowned champions of their respective leagues on 69 occasions, most recently being the 2025-26 New York Knicks.
