State of Tennessee v. Cardona

State of Tennessee v. Cardona is a 2025 decision of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky that vacated nationwide the Department of Education's 2024 regulations implementing Title IX. Judge Danny C. Reeves held that the 2024 Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance rule exceeded the agency's statutory authority, violated several constitutional provisions, and was arbitrary and capricious under the Administrative Procedure Act.
