Succession, continuity and legacy of the USSR
The Soviet Union, officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was a transcontinental country that spanned much of Eurasia from 1922 to 1991. It was a founding member of the United Nations in 1945, as well as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
