Switzerland during World War I and World War II

During World War I and World War II, Switzerland maintained armed neutrality and was not invaded by its neighbors, in part because of its heavily mountainous terrain. Switzerland built up its defence capabilities during this period to guard against an attack from neighbouring Germany, which never occurred.
