On August 28, 1973, near the end of its penultimate leg from Honolulu to Los Angeles, during the descent over the Pacific Ocean, the Boeing 707 entered severe porpoising oscillations, resulting in injuries to two crew members and three passengers; one critically injured passenger died two days later.
