Taiwanese Hokkien

Taiwanese Hokkien ( HOK-ee-en, US also HOH-kee-en), colloquially known as Taiwanese (Chinese: 臺灣話; Tâi-lô: Tâi-uân-ūe) or Taigi (臺語; Tâi-gí/gú/gír), Taiwanese Taigi (臺灣台語; Tâi-uân Tâi-gí/gú/gír), Taiwanese Southern Min (臺灣閩南語; Tâi-uân Bân-lâm-gí/gú/gír), Hoklo and Holo, is a variety of the Hokkien language spoken natively by more than 70 percent of the population of Taiwan. It is spoken by a significant portion of those Taiwanese people who are descended from Hoklo immigrants of southern Fujian.
