Tapetum lucidum

The tapetum lucidum (Latin for 'bright tapestry, coverlet'; tə-PEE-təm LOO-sih-dəm; pl.: tapeta lucida) is a layer of tissue in the eye of many vertebrates and some other animals. Lying immediately behind the retina, it is a retroreflector.
