Telephone numbers in Australia are administered by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) under delegation by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts. The Telecommunications Act 1997 in subsection 455(1) defines a legislative instrument.
