Despite Davao City being consistently ranked as the safest city in the Philippines and one of the safest cities in Southeast Asia, its location in the turbulent Mindanao region has resulted in several terrorist attacks linked to ongoing jihadist insurgencies, as well as left-wing extremism, occurring within the city and in its surrounding districts.
