Tharman Shanmugaratnam (born 25 February 1957) is a Singaporean politician and economist who has served as the ninth president of Singapore since 2023. An independent politician since his presidency, he served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Taman Jurong of Jurong GRC from 2001 to 2023.
