Tony Conigliaro Award

The Tony Conigliaro Award is a national recognition instituted in 1990 by the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB) to honor the memory of Tony Conigliaro. It is given annually to the MLB player who best "overcomes an obstacle and adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination, and courage that were trademarks of Conigliaro." Conigliaro debuted with the Red Sox in 1964, and was selected to the MLB All-Star Game in the 1967 season.
