Tourism plays a significant role in the Indian economy. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the sector contributed to 5.22% of India's GDP in 2023-24 (provisional estimates), recovering from pandemic lows of 1.50% in 2020-21 to pre-pandemic levels of around 5%.
