The Kolkata Tram System, is a tram network that serves Kolkata, the capital city of the Indian state of West Bengal, operated by West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) after Calcutta Tramways Company (CTC) was merged with WBTC. Since its inception in 1873, the Kolkata Tramways has stood as one of the world's oldest continuously operating tram networks, and Asia's first and oldest running Tramways. Being electrified in 1902, Calcutta became the second Asian city with an electric tramway, right after Madras Tramways.
