Typhoon Hagupit, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Nina, was a powerful tropical cyclone that caused widespread destruction along its path in mid September 2008. The 21st depression, 14 tropical storm and 10th typhoon of the 2008 Pacific typhoon season, Hagupit developed from a tropical wave located a couple hundred miles east of the Marshall Islands on September 14.
