Typhoon Nuri, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Karen, was the twelfth named storm and the seventh typhoon recognised by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). It was the thirteenth tropical depression, the twelfth tropical storm and the eighth typhoon of the 2008 Pacific typhoon season, as per the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC).
