Syed Umar Khalid (born 11 August 1987) is an Indian social activist and a former student leader. A former research scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, he rose to prominence in national politics when Delhi Police detained him in 2016, over the JNU sedition row, along with Anirban Bhattacharya and Kanhaiya Kumar.
