United States color-coded war plans

In the 1920s and 1930s, the Joint Planning Committee of the United States Armed Forces developed strategies for various potential wartime scenarios, each named for a color. The plans were withdrawn when World War II broke out in 1939; they were replaced by five "Rainbow" plans developed for a two-ocean war against multiple enemies.
