Vilicus

In ancient Rome, the vilicus (Greek: ἐπίτροπος, epitropos, or oikonomos) was a manager, supervisor, or overseer. Ausonius in 4th-century Bordeaux writes that his "pretentious" vilicus preferred to be called by the Greek title epitropos.
