Women in the United States Air Force

There have been women in the United States Air Force since its founding in 1948, and women continue to serve in it today. During World War II, nearly 40,000 women served in the U.S. Air Force's predecessor, the United States Army Air Forces, as members in the Women's Army Corps, the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the Women's Flying Training Detachment and other related organizations.
