Women of Colonial Virginia

Humans have been living in what is now the state of Virginia since approximately 15,000-20,000 years ago. Prior to European contact, the region was inhabited by various Algonquin-speaking indigenous tribes such as the Powhatans, the Pamunkeys, and the Appomattocs.
